A modern city, with a major airport, (actually closer to Alejuela), and long distance bus services, it also boasts many great shopping opportunities. Overall goods and services are cheaper than in North America, but it is easy to grown your need for more money if not willing to live a more local life. Requiring imported goods to live for example can drastically raise your budget.
Things to do–San Jose offers just about anything a modern city offers. You will find great restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, museums, parks and most things you desire. The bonus for living in San Jose is the location. At nearly 4000 ft. in elevation the year round temperatures range between sixty and 75 degrees Fahrenheit Perfect if you don’t want to spend the money on AC or heating. The city is also in the center of the country, making it a great hub to travel from when visiting the coasts or many of Costa Rica’s wonders.
