The Best Beaches in Panama

How To Enjoy Life As A Digital Nomad

Panama has lots to offer for digital nomads and those working remotely. A stable economy, nature, big cities, and strong internet infrastructure, but one of the biggest draws is the beaches along the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of this small country. Let’s take a look at the best beaches that Panama has to offer.

Best Beach In Panama

1. Red Frog Beach

Red Frog Beach in the Bocas Del Toro region is one of the most popular beaches in Panama. Accessible by boat from Bocas Town and a short walk through the jungle, Red Frog Beach is a great option for those who don’t necessarily want the solitude and remoteness of some of the other islands’ area. Relatively small waves, clear Caribbean waters, and locally available accommodations draw many travelers each year.

2. Playa Bluff

Just a short 20-minute drive from Bocas Town, you will find our second of the best beaches in Panama, Playa Bluff. This beach is about eight kilometers long and is much less visited than other beaches in the area. Playa Bluff offers a more remote experience while still keeping you in reach of the main town. A few restaurants and hotels can be found in the area. The waves here are a little larger here, but swimming is still safe. This is a great option for travelers who want to escape the crowds and listen to the waves crash all day.

3. Punta Duarte

Jumping over to the Pacific coast, we will find Punta Duarte. This is a unique beach because of its long and gradual slope. Thus, the difference between high and low tides is huge and means that the waves here are small. During low tide there is a small island that becomes accessible by land but turns back into an island again during high tide. There are also large tide pools that will have colorful fish and other sea life that will be able to be explored during low tide. This is one of the most unique beaches in Panama and will not disappoint.

4. Playa Venao

Surfers on the Pacific coast will be right at home at Playa Venao. Consistent waves grace this horseshoe-shaped beach year-round and attract surfers from around the world who want to get away from the crowds. Venao is a bit more remote, but the area is becoming more developed, mostly thanks to surfing tourism. Digital nomads can find a few smaller hotels in the area that may have WiFi, but this is certainly a place to visit for nature and solitude when seeking the best beaches in Panama.

5. Playa Coronado

Playa Coronado is one of the most developed beach towns in Panama. Its proximity to Panama City means that this is the weekend getaway for many people living in Panama City and surrounding areas. It isn’t the most beautiful beach that Panama has to offer, but the location and amenities are positive. There are plenty of accommodations in and around Playa Coronado as well as the town of Coronado, so digital nomads should be able to find reliable WiFi. As with most places that are popular for tourists, there are a few corners of Playa Coronado where the locals hang out where one can find music, food, vendors, and a more “Authentically Panamanian” experience.
